Skillet Apple & Pear Crisp with Cinnamon Pear Balsamic

Ingredient Spotlight. Our Cinnamon Pear Dark Balsamic Vinegar is the soul of this dish — warm baking spice and ripe pear in a syrupy pour. Tossed with the fruit it deepens into something almost caramel, and stirred into the topping it makes every oat cluster taste like fall.

Ingredients

  • Filling: 4 cups apples, peeled and diced · 4 cups pears, peeled and diced
  • 2 Tbsp Cinnamon Pear Dark Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour · 2 Tbsp sugar · juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 Tbsp Butter Infused Olive Oil, for the skillet
  • Topping: 1 cup old-fashioned oats · 1 cup all-purpose flour · ¾ cup packed brown sugar · 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon · 2 Tbsp Cinnamon Pear balsamic

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Brush a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or baking dish with the Butter oil.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the apples and pears with the flour, sugar, 2 Tbsp Cinnamon Pear balsamic, and lemon juice. Tip into the skillet and spread level.
  3. In another bowl, rub together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and remaining balsamic until clumpy. Scatter it evenly over the fruit.
  4. Bake 45 minutes, until the fruit bubbles at the edges and the topping is deep golden and crisp.
  5. Let it settle 10 minutes, then finish with a light drizzle of Cinnamon Pear balsamic and serve warm with ice cream.

Chef's Notes

  • A mix of firm apples (like Honeycrisp) and softer pears gives the best texture — some hold, some melt.
  • Rub the topping with your fingertips for big, craggy clusters rather than sand.

Make It Yours

  • Fold a handful of Pepitas into the topping for a toasty, salted crunch against the sweet fruit.

Allergens: contains gluten; serve dairy-free by skipping the ice cream.
