Warm Fig Compote over Greek Yogurt with Cinnamon-Toasted Walnut Granola

Warm Fig Compote over Greek Yogurt with Cinnamon-Toasted Walnut Granola

This is one of those quietly perfect little recipes — warm fig compote spooned over cool Greek yogurt, with cinnamon-toasted walnuts and oats for crunch. It is a protein-packed breakfast that feels like dessert, and it comes together in about fifteen minutes.

Ingredient Spotlight. Our Black Mission Fig Dark Balsamic Vinegar is thick, jammy, and deeply sweet — it softens the dried figs into a glossy compote with real depth. A drizzle of our Blood Orange Fused Olive Oil toasts the walnuts and oats with a bright citrus edge that lifts the whole bowl.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Warm the Blood Orange oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the walnuts and oats and toss until fragrant and golden.
  2. Sprinkle with the cinnamon, toss to coat, and let the granola cool.
  3. In a small saucepan, simmer the figs, Fig balsamic, and honey on low about 10 minutes, stirring, until you have a glossy compote. Let it cool slightly.
  4. Spoon the Greek yogurt into bowls, top with the warm fig compote, and finish with the cinnamon granola and a last thread of Fig balsamic.

Chef's Notes

  • A strip of orange zest simmered with the figs deepens the citrus note.
  • Omit the oats and serve the compote over yogurt as a light dessert.

Make It Yours

  • Swap the homemade granola for a handful of our Everything Nut Crumbs for an even quicker morning.
  • Almonds stand in nicely for the walnuts.
