Dark Chocolate Balsamic Old Fashioned

Dark Chocolate Balsamic Old Fashioned

Ingredient Spotlight. Our Dark Chocolate Dark Balsamic Vinegar is thick, glossy, and genuinely chocolatey, with a clean acidity that keeps the drink from turning cloying. Here it does the work of both sweetener and bitters, lacing the bourbon with bittersweet depth and a jammy finish.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a mixing glass, stir together the bourbon, Dark Chocolate balsamic, simple syrup, and chocolate bitters until fully combined.
  2. Add the large ice cube and stir 20–30 seconds, until the outside of the glass frosts and the drink is well chilled.
  3. Express the orange twist over the surface — pinch it skin-side down so the oils spray across the top — then drop it in.
  4. For a final flourish, let a single drop of the Dark Chocolate balsamic slide down the inside of the glass just before serving.

Chef's Notes

  • Stir, never shake — you want it silky and clear, not cloudy.
  • A high-rye bourbon leans spicy against the cocoa; a wheated one leans soft and dessert-like. Both are lovely.
  • If you like it drier, drop the simple syrup entirely — the balsamic carries enough sweetness on its own to round the edges.
